I think AI is a blast to collaborate with. But I’d like to see a Large Language Model make an intuitive leap. Or build a remote-friendly team culture of enterprising art punks and sneaker heads. Cross disciplines in a single bound. Come up with an original brand idea, get in a room, and sell it. Rock Vans or Ferragamos. It’s obvious: AI needs me.

I’ve been a writer, a brand storyteller and a creative team leader for over 25 years. And there’s still a human touch to this. Sure, AI can iterate like a meth-head, even spit out a surprising level of synthesis that gets more sophisticated on the daily. But for now, AI needs help telling the story.

Sometimes the brief calls for a digital narrative that unfolds over months. Or a brand act that hits as quick as a glance and a thumb. Either way, good storytelling is good business.
